2019 Summer Flute Camp

Camp Dates: June 26th through June 30th, 2019


Come join us at Green Oak Ranch in Vista, CA for a 5 day/4 night flute camp. Daily warm-ups, masterclasses, ensembles, crafts, and so much more await. 


Diana Morgan - Guest artist 

Canadian-born flutist Diana Morgan is acting piccolo and 3rd flute with the San Diego Symphony. Ms. Morgan held this position during the 2014-15 season and has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, among others. In 2015, she appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic New Music Group conducted by John Adams as part of the Green Umbrella Series. Ms. Morgan can be heard playing piccolo on the ABC series Fresh Off the Boat (Season 2: Episodes 2 and 23). Ms. Morgan was second flute with the Star Wars in Concert national tour in 2009 and 2010 international tour. She has performed at numerous national and international festivals, including Arizona MusicFest, the Artosphere Festival, Spoleto Festival (USA) and (in Canada) the National Youth Orchestra and National Academy Orchestra.

Diana Morgan received a Graduate Certificate in Performance from the University of Southern California and her master’s from Carnegie Mellon University. Her principal teachers include Jim Walker, Jeanne Baxtresser, Alberto Almarza and Dr. Amy Hamilton. Her trio, The Upside, were the winners of the 2014 Beverly Hills national auditions. Ms. Morgan is an active teacher and is an adjudicator for the Colburn Conservatory flute auditions. Now in its twelfth year, Ms. Morgan is the director and faculty member at Jim Walker’s "Beyond the Masterclass" at the Colburn School, and her students have been accepted at prominent conservatories and colleges across the country and abroad.

Camp Venue

Green Oak Ranch

For over 65 years organizations from through-out southern California have held youth camps, retreats, Christian church functions and other events at Green Oak Ranch. Green Oak Ranch sits on 142 beautiful acres only 15 minutes from local beaches, and freeway convenient from the I-5 Freeway or I-15 Freeway. Our lodging accommodations include cabins that can sleep up to 300 persons (12 persons per cabin). Our 3 large bathroom facilities, and 6 private bathrooms accommodate large and small camps. Your group will enjoy meals in our Dining Hall, which seats 200 people inside and another 200 outside on our beautiful outdoor patio. 

Our Dining Hall serves three meals a day, to refuel and nourish your group for another fun-filled and active day. Our food service team is sensitive to your folks with special dietary and allergy concerns.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to students Grade 5 thru Grade 12 (Ages 10 thru 18 years). 
  • Students do not need to be members of San Diego Flute Guild to attend. 
  • Campers must abide by the rules and regulations.

Registration & Deadlines

  • Registration for The Summer Flute Camp must be received by June 10th, 2019.
  • Campers may secure a spot with a down payment of $100 prior to the registration deadline, but payment in full must be received by June 10th, 2019. 
  • Registration is available now.  

Fees

  • Two options: 4-night sleepover camp (Wednesday - Sunday) or day camp (Thursday-Sunday from 9:00am-9:00pm). 
  • Early bird rate for sleepover camp: $400; after April 1st, 2019, the sleepover camp rate is $425. To be eligible for the early bird rate, make a deposit OR pay in full before April 1, 2019. All meals are included for sleepover campers. 
  • Day camp rate is $325. There is no early bird rate for day campers. Lunch and dinner are included (no breakfast). 
  • All payments are non-refundable.
