SAN DIEGO'S PREMIER FLUTE ORGANIZATION

Annual Events

Teachers' Luncheon

The annual Teachers’ Luncheon is a gathering of all SDFG members who are teachers so we can announce the season of events, and hand out packets with information on the upcoming events for the year. Most importantly, however, the luncheon is a time to share teaching stories, spend time together, and embrace the wonderful community of flute teachers in the greater San Diego area!

Annual Meeting of the Members

The annual meeting of the members is an informal get together to meet & greet the board members, play a few flute choir tunes, and outline the upcoming year of events.  Please feel free to bring friends, and a small snack to share with the group!

Member's Recitals

Each year the SDFG holds one or two member recitals as opportunities for all members of the Flute Guild to participate as a solo, flute & piano or flute ensemble.  Light refreshments are served at the end.  The Spring Member Recital features winners from our Spring Festival. These recitals are free to all and open to the public.

The Winona Grant Holiday Flute Choir Concert

The San Diego Flute Guild is happy to host the annual Winona Grant Holiday Flute Concert, with two flute choirs sponsored by SDFG.  It is open to any and all flutists & flute choirs to participate in, the more the merrier!  We welcome friends, family and flute lovers to attend the concert and help us celebrate the holiday season!

Chamber Fest

The “Chamber Fest” combines flute or mixed ensembles in a festival for students to play in a recital setting. Each ensemble is adjudicated by professional flutists.

Young Artist Competition

The SDFG Young Artist Competition is an elite solo competition open to flutists ages 18-30. There is a Preliminary Recorded Round (recordings of compulsory repertoire) from which six finalists will be selected to compete in the live Final Round.

Spring Festival

Our spring festival is the biggest and best flute event on the west coast.  We host over 16 competition divisions; flute choir performances and reading sessions; special guest artist presentations, classes and performances; and invite a wide variety of vendors to display amazing flutes and accessories for event attendees to try and purchase.

Summer Camp (Including a Guest Artist Day)

SDFG Summer Flute Camp is an overnight youth camp open to students Grade 5 thru Grade 12 (or ages 10-18).  Camp faculty features an array of fantastic local teachers and invites a special guest artist for two days.  Our guest artist will work one day with our campers, and on the second day, we will invite the public to attend masterclasses and performance by our guest artist and camp faculty.
