We hope you've had a wonderful summer. The SDFG board has been working like busy little bees, and we hope to see you at our annual meeting of the members so we can tell you in person all of the exciting events we have in store for you for the 2016-2017 season. For now, we'll give you some very important details on how to RSVP to the meeting, some events and exhibits to visit at the NFA convention this month, and some tips on how to renew your SDFG membership.

San Diego Flute Guild
Annual Meeting of Members
You are invited to the San Diego Flute Guild's annual meeting at Ruth Mayhew's house. We will play some flute choir tunes, discuss the upcoming year of events, and meet the new board.
Date: Sunday, August 21st
Time: 4:00 p.m.
Please visit our website to register to attend this free meeting. Location information and directions will be emailed upon your registration.
Bring your flute and a stand. Light refreshments will be provided.

SDFG Renewal Time
It's time to renew your San Diego Flute Guild Membership. This year, it's easier than ever to renew. You can even set up an automatic renewal so you never lapse your SDFG membership.
Through the new San Diego Flute Guild website, you will also have access to see your membership profile, and update your membership status at any time.
With your membership you will receive:

- Discounted tickets and registration options for SDFG events
- A list of pianists available for accompaniment
- Discounted tickets for the San Diego Symphony
- Special invitations to member only events

Current SDFG Members: an account has already been created for you on our new site, and you should be getting a renewal invoice via email on or around August 7th. You can simply log in by entering your email address, then click "forgot password" and you can then create your own password to log in to the new site and renew your membership.

If any non-members have not yet joined our new mailing list after October 1st, you will no longer receive constant contact blasts from San Diego Flute Guild. Keep updated by filling out the "subscription form" for our new mailing list here.
New SDFG Website
The new website is designed with many suggestions made by members and the board. We hope you take a moment to peruse the new design, and many of it's functions.

You can control your contact info, email subscription preferences and privacy preferences right from your member profile.
The back end of the website will now handle our membership database, newsletter emails, events and much more!
IMPORTANT: Since the new site handles member news and emails, we will be discontinuing the use of Constant Contact. Constant Contact is currently how you are receiving your blasts, just like this one. Current members of San Diego Flute Guild have been moved to the new site already, and you can log in using your email, and then create a new password. Those of you who simply receive our mailing list and are not members will discontinue receiving these blasts after October 1st, and will need to sign up on the new site to start receiving emails.

Secrets of an Audition Winner: Five Steps to Success

Garden Salon One
Join Beatriz Macias, principal flutist with the Luxemburg Chamber Orchestra, and Erica Peel, solo piccoloist with the San Diego Symphony, as they share their personal outlook on what it really takes to win an audition. The class will underline five simple, but major, steps in preparing for and taking successful auditions.
Member Jon Fonville is retiring from UCSD and will be selling his flute music. He would like to offer members of the flute guild an opportunity to buy it.
It covers all styles and periods, and includes exercises, etudes, solos, duets, trios and quartets. The prices are very reasonable as Jon would like to see it in good hands.
Saturdays are the best days for meeting at his studio at UCSD.

Member Elena Yarritu's new CD Emigrantes, Flute Music from Argentina will be available at Flute World. It includes a newly commissioned work for flute and piano, one of the Argentine flute quartets as well as the Piazzolla Etudes in Duo form performed with tango flutist Paulina Fain, all composed/arranged by Exequiel Mantenga.
