Message from the President
Dear San Diego,
Welcome to spring, my favorite time of year in So Cal! I'd like to take this opportunity to ask for your help volunteer at the spring festival, and to consider serving on the board for the next term. For more information on volunteering at the festival, see below.
In the next month, we will be forming the nominee list for the 2018-2019 SD Flute Guild Board. We could use a few more hands on deck next year, so if you're interested in joining the board, please send us an email and we'll send you more details. Board members and festival volunteers can be teachers, students, parents, or members of the community. I can't stress this enough, we need you! This guild runs on the ideas, knowledge, and generosity of our members, so I thank you in advance for jumping in!
Thank you so much for reading, and I wish you all the best for the new season,
Competition Registration Information
The Spring festival is quickly approaching, as are the registration deadlines. Register to compete by March 25th - no exceptions. Here's a brief rundown of how to register:
A few details you'll need to register:
- The competition division(s) in which you'll compete. (If you are competing in more than one division you'll only need to register once).
- The title(s) and name(s) of the composers of the piece(s) you'll be playing.
- Teacher's name and email.
- Pianist's name and email.
- We'll need to know in advance if you'd like to perform in the Winners' Recital (if you're a winner of a competition or a gold medalist in a festival division).
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask, we're here to help make this an easy process.
There are 4 spaces to perform for Carol Wincenc during her masterclass at the festival. Anyone can apply and should be at a high-performance level for the age of the performer. Apply by the March 25th deadline - no exceptions. To apply to perform in the masterclass:
- Become a member
- View the event page for registration instructions, and apply right from that page.
Teachers, Students, Parents, Friends, Neighbors - we need volunteers for the following positions at the festival:
- Set up and Tear Down
- Competition Door Monitors
- Room Proctors
- Hospitality Booth
- Collating Room
- Judge Runners
- Ushers for the final recital
- Page Turner for Guest Artist Recital
We are able to hire and pay a few helpers for the day. Students will receive community service hours, and parents will have something to do while their children are attending events!
Consider lending a hand at this event, this event would not be possible without your generosity!
There are still a few exhibitor spaces left. If you'd like to come to the show, and sell flute goodies, please check out our exhibitor page! The deadline to register to exhibit is March 25th.
