Base fee:
  • Register to attend the festival as a competitor
  • Additional $25 fee for registrants after the May 8th deadline. NO registrations will be accepted after May 15th.

The San Diego Flute Guild invites you to register for one of our festival or specialty divisions! The San Diego Flute Guild is hosting 11 Festival & Specialty Division Competitions.

Note: Youth Artist Finalists cannot enter a Festival division, but can enter a Specialty Division. Non-finalists may enter a Festival Division and/or a Specialty Divisions (Piccolo).

FESTIVAL DIVISION

Levels:

  • Elementary (5th Grade and under)
  • 6th Grade
  • 7th Grade
  • 8th Grade
  • 9th Grade
  • 10th Grade
  • 11th Grade
  • 12th Grade
  • Collegiate Undergraduate
  • Adult Amateur (non-professionals)

Competition Submission Deadline:

May 1, 2022

Format:

Audio Recording, unedited

Repertoire

  • There is no compulsory repertoire for the regular festival divisions.
  • Piano accompaniment is not required. 
  • The total performance time is not to exceed 8 minutes.

Awards

Participants will be awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze award medals or Participation certificates based on the quality of their performance instead of 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, and Honorable Mentions.

Judges may award as many respective medals as they deem appropriate based on the quality of the performances in each division.

Registration Guidelines

You must be logged in as a member to register.

Please have the following information ready before you fill out your registration: Competitor Information, Division(s), and Repertoire.  Each family member who is competing must submit separate membership and registration forms.  

Note: The name on the registration must be the name of the competitor, not the name of the parent.

Fees 

Festival Division - $45

Specialty Division - $45, or $25 if registering for another division.

Competitors may not register for both the Festival and Youth Artist Division, but may register for either the Festival Division, and the Specialty Divisions, or the Youth Artist Divisions and the Specialty Divisions. 

Deadlines

Registration fees are non refundable, and are due May 1st, 2022.

Please note that there will be a $25 late fee assessed to all registrations that are submitted after May 1st, 2022. No registrations will be accepted after May 5th, 2022. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THIS POLICY. Thank you for your prompt registrations.

RECORDING REQUIREMENTS

Recordings should be submitted via email to SDFG Competition Coordinator, (sdfgcompetitions@gmail.com), no later than May 1st, 2022 (11:59 PM PST).

Full repertoire requirements are located on this page. Please read carefully. 

  • Recordings for Festival and Piccolo divisions must be no longer than 8 minutes in length. 
  • Recordings must be in mp3/m4a/wav/aiff audio format.
  • For identification purposes, name your files as your first initial and last name, (i.e. S.Smith.mp3) 
  • Please do not talk or identify yourself in any way on your submitted recording.
  • If submitting 2 pieces, you may submit separate recordings. Please include composer name as part of the file name. 
  • Recordings must be complete and unedited.

PICCOLO DIVISION

This competition is open to piccolo players of all ages/grades. Judges will be informed of age/years playing and will comment and award medals/certificates accordingly.

REPERTOIRE

  • The total performance time is not to exceed 8 minutes.

Youth Artist Finalists cannot enter a Festival division, but can enter a Specialty Division. Non-finalists may enter a Festival Division and/or a Specialty Division (Piccolo).
