In high demand as a recitalist, concerto soloist, collaborative artist, orchestral flutist and teacher, Dr. Kristyn Son performed and gave master classes throughout the U.S. and Asia at prestigious institutions including Sejong University, Sangmyung University, Songkhla Rajabhat University, St. Andrew's Junior College, Singapore Chinese Girls' School, University of North Texas, University of Central Oklahoma, Tarleton State University, and Texas A&M University Commerce. She has performed internationally at major venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Seoul Arts Hall, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, and Murchison Performing Arts Center among many more. Kristyn Son is a LefreQue Artist, and sponsored artist by the Korea Total Economic Institute. She served as an Artist Instructor at the Northeastern State University and Instructor of Flute at Kansas State University. Dr. Son is currently an Artist-in-residence at Hope International University.
Join Kristyn Son this Saturday, October 3 at 1pm for a class that will focus on building your daily exercise routine based on assessments you make for yourself. Dr. Kristyn Son will talk about the elements to consider when making those assessments (i.e. dynamic control, vibrato, technique, and more.)
Dr. Son will introduce exercises that she has found to be extremely helpful and will encourage students, adults, and professionals to build their own routine.

Kristyn Son was the winner of 2017 National Flute Association’s Convention Performer’s Competition. She also was the First Prize winner of the 2014 Myrna W. Brown Artist Competition and Best Performance of Newly Commissioned Piece. As a winner of the competition, she was invited as a Guest Artist of the 2015 Texas Flute Society Festival. In addition, Dr. Son is a top prize winner of the South Carolina Flute Society Young Artist Competition, Upper Midwest Flute Association Young Artist Competition, Kentucky Flute Society Young Artist Competition, American Protégé International Flute Competition, Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition, and Mid-Atlantic Flute Society Young Artist Competition, Korea Flute Competition, Seoul Flute Competition, and the Ewha and Kyunghyang Concours.
Active as an international soloist across the United States and Asia, Dr. Son has appeared as a concerto soloist with the University of the North Texas Symphony Orchestra, the Landon Symphonette, the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Seoul Academy Orchestra.
Dr. Son received a Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Conservatory, Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas, where she served as a teaching fellow from 2012-2015. She was the recipient of the Wells Fargo Scholarship, UNT Graduate Assitantship Tuition Scholarship, and Toulouse Graduate School Awards for Academic Achievements. Her principal teachers include Anne Diener Zentner, Marina Piccinini, Marya Martin, and Mary Karen Clardy.
