2020 Summer Flute Camp

Camp Dates: June 24th through June 28th, 2020


Come join us at Green Oak Ranch in Vista, CA for a 5 day/4 night flute camp. Daily warm-ups, masterclasses, ensembles, crafts, and so much more await.

Amy Taylor

Piccolo and Third Flute, San Diego Symphony

Amy Taylor, Piccolo and Third Flute, recently joined the San Diego Symphony Orchestra after 7 years as the Acting Second Flutist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Prior to this, she was the Solo Piccoloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Associate Principal Flutist with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. 

Ms. Taylor has performed frequently with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, including tours to Asia and Carnegie Hall. Additionally, she has performed with the Detroit, Minnesota, Atlanta and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras on both piccolo and flute. Ms. Taylor currently enjoys spending part of her summer performing with the Bellingham Festival of Music in Washington. She has also performed with the Sitka Summer Music Festival, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and the IRIS Music Festival. 

Ms. Taylor, a Yamaha Artist, was a first place winner of the National Flute Association Orchestral Excerpts Competition and the Oklahoma Young Artist Competition. In 2006, she performed as a soloist with Yo-Yo Ma in Grant Park as part of the Silk Road Ensemble. 

In addition to her active performing career, Ms. Taylor is a devoted teacher. She has held teaching positions at both Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Northern Kentucky University. 

Originally from the Dallas area, she received her BM from the University of North Texas and her MM from Northwestern University. Her primary teachers include, Walfrid Kujala and Terri Sundberg. 

Staff

Full-time overnight and day staff will include Camp Coordinators/Staff: Alan Payne, Cheryl Bretsnyder, Lionel Avila, Sierra Johnson, and Farah Zolghadr.

Daily Warm-Ups, Daily Masterclasses, Musical Games, Educational Presentations, Craft Activities, Ensemble Rehearsals/Preparation for SDFG Summer Flute Camp Concert.

Camp Venue

Green Oak Ranch

For over 65 years organizations from through-out southern California have held youth camps, retreats, Christian church functions and other events at Green Oak Ranch. Green Oak Ranch sits on 142 beautiful acres only 15 minutes from local beaches, and freeway convenient from the I-5 Freeway or I-15 Freeway. Our lodging accommodations include cabins that can sleep up to 300 persons (12 persons per cabin). Our 3 large bathroom facilities, and 6 private bathrooms accommodate large and small camps. Your group will enjoy meals in our Dining Hall, which seats 200 people inside and another 200 outside on our beautiful outdoor patio. 

Our Dining Hall serves three meals a day, to refuel and nourish your group for another fun-filled and active day. Our food service team is sensitive to your folks with special dietary and allergy concerns.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to students Grade 5 thru Grade 12 (Ages 10 thru 18 years). 
  • Students do not need to be members of San Diego Flute Guild to attend. 
  • Campers must abide by the rules and regulations.

Registration & Deadlines

  • Registration for The Summer Flute Camp must be received by June 3rd, 2020.
  • Campers may secure a spot with a down payment of $100 prior to the registration deadline, but payment in full must be received by June 3rd, 2020. 
  • Registration is available now.  

Fees

  • Register before April 15th to take advantage of the early bird rate of $400. You must make a deposit or pay in full by that date in order to be eligible. 
  • After April 15th, 2020, the rate is $425. 
  • Day camp option available. Email for details.
