We understand that this may be a difficult time for some. We don't want finances to hold you back from our offerings. We welcome all flutists to join our organization and are offering a "Membership Fee Waiver" Scholarship to anyone who is in need. Please fill out this short form if you would like to become a member and would like to request a membership fee waiver.

Music grant application

Aspiring flutists in need of financial assistance (all ages, all levels, beginners-advanced) are invited to apply for financial assistance through the San Diego Flute Guild. Funds may be applied towards lessons, music camps, masterclasses, etc. Please fill out this form and submit a statement for what funds are requested and how they will be used. The SDFG Board of Directors will review and vote on the dispersal of such funds. Partial awards may be granted based on the Board discussion and voting. Applicants should be members of the San Diego Flute Guild.

Winona Grant Scholarship Fund

Thank you to the family of Winona Grant for your support of the San Diego Flute Guild and this scholarship fund.

The San Diego Flute Guild is pleased to offer partial scholarships to deserving applicants of SDFG members in San Diego, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties (Southern California). Scholarships may be requested for membership, partial lesson costs, and fees for SDFG programs/events.  Other scholarships will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and are accepted year-round.

The scholarship forms are linked below. Please carefully review scholarship guidelines.

  • The applicant's teacher must be a current Teacher Member of the SDFG.
  • The Teacher Member should complete the relevant form linked below. 
  • Both forms must be filled out in their entirety in order to be considered for a scholarship. 
  • Adult applicants who are requesting scholarships for assistance with private lesson fees must also be students of a current  Teacher Member.
  • All applicants seeking assistance with private lessons must be students of the SDFG Teacher Member for at least three (3) months.
  • If the applicant has received a scholarship toward private lessons and discontinues lessons with the teacher, the remaining dollar amount should be returned to the branch treasurer within two weeks of the applicant’s discontinuation.
  • While scholarship applications are accepted any time during the membership year, recipients cannot apply for a scholarship more than once per membership year (September-August). 
  • The applicant *must* participate in at least two SDFG Events during the time of the scholarship. 
  • Applications will be reviewed by the SDFG Board and recipients will be chosen based on a vote by the SDFG Board. We encourage you to plan ahead to ensure your application is able to reviewed in time for your specific need. 
  • Applicants and their teachers will be notified of the results of the scholarship application, including any award amount, following board discussion and voting.  
  • Teachers of applicants requesting monies for private lessons are required to match the amount of the SDFG scholarship (in kind). Applicants will be notified of this requirement. 


All other scholarships will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and are accepted year-round.
